Christopher Columbus

When Christopher Columbus was just little boy,
he had big dreams. He wanted to sail on a ship.
He wanted to be a great explorer and discover new lands.
Christopher Columbus grew up and became a sailor.
He wanted to find a shortcut from Spain to Asia, a land of gold and spices. He thought if he sailed west from Spain, he would get Asia.He asked the king and queen of Spain to help him, and they agreed. They gave him three ships-the Niña, the Pinta and the Santa Maria.
Christoper Columbus and his crew set sail for Asia.
The trip across the Atlantic Ocean was long The Weather was stormy.Columbus and his crew were running out of food.
“Land! Ahead!” someone called out one day. Finally, Columbus and his crew saw land.
But that land was not Asia. Christopher Columbus had arrived on a small island. He named the island San Salvador.
He and his crew met the Taino (TIGH-noh)
people who lived there.

When Columbus returned to Spain, he told people about his trip. Christopher Columbus Had become an explorer. The dreams of a little boy had come true!
